CLINICAL EXPERTISE
Dr. Juliana Heimur is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. She is passionate about treating athletes of all levels, from competitive athletes to weekend warriors, as well as individuals striving to stay active and healthy throughout their lives. Her expertise includes complex arthroscopic surgery, joint preservation, cartilage restoration, joint replacement of the knee and shoulder, and trauma, with a strong focus on patient-centered care and return-to-sport outcomes.
Dr. Heimur graduated from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience. She then spent two years at the National Institutes of Health performing clinical research on the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Heimur earned her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by completion of orthopaedic surgery residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In Philadelphia, she had the privilege to train under several notable mentors, including previous Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Eagles team physicians at esteemed institutions such as the Jefferson Hospital System and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Heimur then completed her orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Andrews Institute through the Andrews Research & Education Foundation under the mentorship of Dr. James Andrews, a world-renowned leader in sports medicine, and his astounding partners.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Heimur has served as team physician for athletes at all levels, including professional baseball through the Miami Marlins organization, NCAA Division I and II colleges, and high schools. Her hands-on involvement with athletes emphasizes her commitment to helping patients recover and perform at their best.
When not in the operating room or on the sidelines, Dr. Heimur enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and labrador retriever.
