Congratulations to Our Latest Surgeons to Become Board Certified!

Sep 17, 2018

Premier Orthopaedics is thrilled to announce that four of our orthopaedic surgeons have become American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified, and we congratulate Ashley Anderson, M.D., Michael Birns, M.D., James A. Costanzo, M.D., and Andrew Old, M.D. for their achievement.

Becoming American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified adds a new degree of credibility for orthopaedic surgeons. To become Board certified, the surgeon must complete a two-part examination arranged by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery: a computer-based exam and an oral exam. Once certification is granted, the surgeon is required to participate in continuing their medical education to remain updated on the latest research, techniques, cases and changes in the field. The re-certification program includes peer review assessments, as well as self-assessment exams recurring every ten years.

Patients seeking orthopaedic surgery generally are most satisfied knowing that their surgeon of choice is Board certified. Along with the benefits of staying up to date on the most recent studies, perhaps the greatest quality of this distinguished authorization is bringing patients a heightened peace of mind and assurance.
